How to Fix Google Chrome Update Problems and Failed Updates

Are you get Google Chrome Update Problems and Failed Updates on your Windows/PC/Mac/Android/iOS, like problems below:

  • Update failed: Updates are disabled by administrator
  • Update failed (Error: 3 or 11) An error occurred while checking for updates: Update server not available
  • Update failed (Error: 4 or 10) An error occurred while checking for updates: Update check failed to start

  • This computer will no longer receive Chrome updates because Windows XP and Windows Vista are no longer supported

1. Download Google Chrome again

It’s possible that some files are missing on your computer. To fix, follow these steps:

  1. Uninstall Google Chrome.

    Windows 10 64 bit/32 bit

    1. Close all Chrome windows and tabs On your Windows/PC.
    2. Click the Start menu > Settings. (Win key + I)
    3. Click Apps.
    4. Under “Apps & features,” find and click Google Chrome.
    5. Click Uninstall.
    6. Confirm by clicking Uninstall.
    7. To delete your profile information, like bookmarks and history, check “Also delete your browsing data.”
    8. Click Uninstall.

    Windows 8.1/8/ 7/Vista

    1. Close all Chrome windows and tabs On your Windows/PC.
    2. Open the Control Panel:
      • Windows 7 & Vista: Click the Start menu > Control Panel.
      • Windows 8: Point to the top right of your screen. Click Settings > Control Panel.
    3. Click Uninstall a program or Programs and Features.
    4. Double-click Google Chrome.
    5. To delete your profile information, like bookmarks and history, check “Also delete your browsing data.”
    6. Click Uninstall.

    Windows XP

    1. Close all Chrome windows and tabs On your Windows/PC.
    2. Click the Start menu > Control Panel.
    3. Click Add or Remove Programs.
    4. Click Google Chrome.
    5. Click Remove.
    6. To delete your profile information, like bookmarks and history, check “Also delete your browsing data.”
    7. Click Uninstall.

     

    How to Uninstall Google Chrome on Android

    Google Chrome is already installed on most Android devices, and can’t be removed. You can turn it off so that it won’t show on the list of apps on your device.

    1. Open your device’s Settings app.
    2. Tap Apps & notifications.
    3. Tap Chrome App. If you don’t see it, first tap See all apps or App info.
    4. Tap Disable.

      1. At the top of the screen, click Go > Go to Folder.
      2. Enter ~/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome.
      3. Click Go.
      4. Select all the folders, and drag them to the Trash.

    1. Open a terminal window.
      • On GNOME, Unity, and Cinnamon environments, press Ctrl + Alt + t.

    2. Enter the uninstall command:

Check the settings for your antivirus, firewall, or parental control software.

  • Make sure tools.google.com and dl.google.com aren’t blocked.

5. Please make sure you meet the system requirements

Google Chrome doesn’t work with the following older platforms:

  • Windows XP

Fix Windows “No longer supported” error

If your computer meets the Windows system requirements above, but Chrome isn’t starting or you see the error message “This computer will no longer receive Google Chrome updates because Windows XP and Windows Vista are no longer supported,” you might have Chrome set to run in Windows’ Compatibility Mode.

Turn off Compatibility Mode:

  1. On your computer, right-click the Chrome icon.
  2. Click Properties > Compatibility.
  3. Uncheck “Run this program in compatibility mode for.”

To use Chrome on Mac, you’ll need:

  • OS X Yosemite 10.10 or later.

To use Chrome on Linux, you’ll need:

  • 64-bit Ubuntu 14.04+, Debian 8+, openSUSE 13.3+, or Fedora Linux 24+.
  • An Intel Pentium 4 processor or later that’s SSE2 capable.
